When CommentSold aqquired PopShopLive (PSL), there was always the intention of expanding the user base and type of products beyond collectables and into fashion and beauty products. In addition, the backend of PopShopLive was merged into the CommentSold platform, allowing users to seamlessly create accounts on both, greatly expanding their feature set as well as new avenues for selling. Once we started the process, we quickly realized was that in order to function as intented, the PSL sign up and account creation flows needed a complete overhaul.
The profile management and organization was a bit of a mess - features had been added by developers without intention due to the speed PSL had been releasing features at. This resulted in a user needing to bounce around between sections of the admin while setting up their shop or even do simple actions like updating their store description or tags. Different profile features existed on different device types as well. For example, you could only update your profile photo on mobile while tags could only be editted via browser. This resulted in a significant drop off in user and a large amount of shops abandoned mid creation.
As lead designer, I was in charge of mapping out the existing features and flows, technical issues/limitation and requirements necessary to bring the PSL account and profile system up to par with CommentSold. I also lead the research, revisions and design that lead to a complete rethinking of the PSL account creation flow. The result was complete rethinking of how a PSL user could join and mange with minimal clicks while still fully capturing the required information. As we began to welcome creators and influencers onto the platform, we learned some don;t even own a laptop and only use their phones! It was quite the challenge, but the results really paid off.
