CommentSold was founded on the idea of comment selling. Users could enter a keyword and ID in the chat of a Facebook live or group (i.e. Sold 101) and our system would identify the product and user and send them a link to to buy the item. Simple idea, but really revolutionary and we launched at the perfect time. As CS grew and Covid changed the retail landscape, we grew into a platform for services and delivery - billing, shipping, warehouse logistic, live streaming, custom apps and webstores - you name it, we did it. As we diversified, the big players in social media started developing their oen sales features, and comment selling on social media became a small part of our core functionality.
But, as most things do, comment selling has once again become viable again thanks to new players and short-form videos via the rise of TikTok. As we watched user try and figure out how to turn followers into an business, it seemed like deja vu. Creators were back to manually scrubbing comments for purchase comments and DMing links or even using text overlays forcing viewers to manually enter URLs.
Well no more! CommentChat is a product that brings all functionality of the CommentSold platform into the new landscape of live and short-form video selling and updates it for the next generation of buyers. As the principle designer I collaborated with our CEO & director of product to define and design the use cases, flows, interactions, creation, and overall user experience on both the shop and the shopper side.
